2016 Instrumental Music Fund Appeal

Dear Friends,

This month we are kicking off our 12th annual Instrument Fund Appeal. Donations in the past have significantly enhanced the quality of the music experience for Boulder High School’s band and orchestra students. We have been able to purchase a concert harp, a vibraphone and sound reflection shells – to name just a few important additions to the program.

Thanks to your generosity during the 2015 instrument drive, we were able to purchase one bass, a cello rack and four snare drums. If you attended the musical showcase in September, you certainly got to hear those drums! Surely you were impressed by the high caliber performance of the students on stage, and especially by the marked improvement they demonstrate over the years.

Will you continue this important tradition and help our dedicated music teachers provide the students with the instruments they need?

This year our band and orchestra directors are requesting:

  • Two bassoons – $8,000
  • One Tuba – $7,000
  • One Von Aue Violin – $1,800
  • Three German bass bows – $1,500

In other words, our goal is to raise around $18,000. It’s essential for our students to have a full set of the larger instruments at school, as these are not easily transportable. Additionally, a full line of instruments provides students with the opportunity to borrow, say, a violin or clarinet to practice at home.

A donation of any amount will be greeted with enthusiasm. We’re aiming for 100% participation from our music families!

Please share this letter with family, friends, and anyone else who may have a personal interest in your student’s music education – or may be interested in supporting this excellent instrumental music program. Check to see if your employer has a matching program that would increase your contribution.

Other Ways to Contribute: The music program at Boulder High School always welcomes tax-deductible donations of gently-used musical instruments. We particularly need violins, violas, cellos and basses.

Thank you in advance for your generosity! Please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have.

Sincerely,

Mary Ison
